Anglican Synod: Hon. Dibiagwu Lauds Governor Uzodimma On Debt Repayment

The Member representing Ohaji/Egbem, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in Imo State, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, has lauded the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for making the state economically viable.
Delivering his keynote address on the theme: “Navigating The Path To Essential Development In Ohaji/Egbema Amid Economic Reforms, Persistent Inflation And An Uncertain Volatile Environment: Essential Panaceas,” at the first session of the Sixth Diocesan Synod of the Anglican Church, held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Obitti, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Imo State, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu lauded the giant strides of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the state.
According to the House Committee Chairman on Regional Development at the Federal House of Representatives, Governor Uzodimma has blocked the pipe of economic leakages in the state and opened up the tap of economic realities in the state.
In his words: “In Imo State, the evidence of what Governor Hope Uzodimma is doing with this revenue is very clear. The leak is blocked and the tap is now running. Today, Imo has not borrowed. It is repaying debts. For years, Imo was on the list of highly indebted states.
“We enjoy Paris Fund and bailout, yet, we borrow. Owed salaries, contractors, banks, and could not pay pensioners or gratuities.
“Today, the Debt Management Office ranked Imo 1st in debt repayment,’ Hon. Dibiagwu affirmed.
The House of Representatives Member further emphasised that the ongoing economic reforms, though initially difficult, are gradually repositioning the economy for growth and stability.
Hon. Dibiagwu in the meantime, enumerated on some of the challenges being faced by the oil producing communities of Ohaji and Egbema, especially in the areas of: development and economic realities facing the areas.
The lawmaker representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly pointed out that intervention programmes and engagements with oil companies, as well as other critical stakeholders were part of the efforts aimed at addressing some of the challenges militating against the oil producing communities.
He was optimistic that Waltersmith Refinery located at Ibigwe in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, which he described as one of the economic assets in the state, is capable of creating opportunities and supporting local economic growth.
